About us
The desk behind the doctor, staffed by veterans.
DutyPath LLC trains direct care support professionals in credentialing, federal payer enrollment, authorization and compliance, gives them the software to run that work in, and carries the membership that connects them with the providers who need it.
Veterans doing the paperwork that gets other veterans seen.
A veteran referred into the community only gets seen if the practice taking that referral is credentialed and enrolled on the day it arrives. Those two workstreams run on separate clocks, in every state a practice is licensed in, and nothing announces a lapse. The referral simply stops being offered.
The work is not difficult. It is relentless, unforgiving of a missed date, and almost nobody is trained to do it — least of all against the federal payer programs, where the procedures are least documented and the consequence of getting them wrong lands on a patient rather than an invoice.
DutyPath was built to close that gap with a workforce that already understands deadlines, documentation and consequence. The people who kept a unit's readiness paperwork current are the people who can keep a practice's file current, and the work is remote and portable enough to survive a move every two years.
The shortage is not doctors willing to see veterans. It is the desk that keeps those doctors credentialed and enrolled.
Who we are
DutyPath LLC
A private, for-profit company in Chesterfield, Virginia, founded by a United States Marine Corps veteran who designed the Direct Care Support Professional framework and authored the platform and curriculum behind it. The framework and platform are her own work, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.
What we carry
Academy, Workflow, membership
Training with a credential track, a multi-client system of record for the work itself, and the directory where providers and support professionals find one another. Everyone joins through DutyPath.
Community affiliations
Veterans Desk and Mendry
Two nonprofit communities a member can be affiliated with on their listing. Each is a separate organization that sets its own policies, runs its own programs and speaks for itself. Membership itself is always held with DutyPath.
The framework
The Direct Care Support Professional catalog is the workforce taxonomy the whole company is built on: eight subspecialties and 78 named roles, each with its own duties, competencies and advancement path.
Credentialing
6 roles
Enrollment
9 roles
Billing and revenue cycle
12 roles
Prior authorization and utilization management
9 roles
Compliance and quality
10 roles
Administrative operations
13 roles
Medical coding and documentation integrity
10 roles
HIPAA training and workforce privacy education
9 roles
Federal Payer Operations is not a ninth subspecialty. It is the subject matter the eight are worked through — the material of the Federal Payer Operations course and the CFPO examination — and it is counted separately, on purpose.
No role in the catalog requires a state license. Five roles carry a state dimension in the work itself, but the license in question belongs to the provider being credentialed, never to the support professional doing the credentialing.
What we are not
Stated plainly, because each of these is a line people assume has been crossed.
Not an employer
No one works for us
A member engaged by a provider contracts with that provider directly, as an independent contractor. DutyPath is not a party to the engagement, sets no rates and takes no fee from it.
Not a staffing agency
No placement, no matching
Providers browse the directory and select for themselves. We do not assign, allocate, refer or recommend any member to any provider, and we charge no referral or placement fee.
Not government affiliated
No VA endorsement
DutyPath LLC is a private company. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or any other government agency.
How we hold ourselves
These are standing rules, not marketing positions. They are the reason several easy revenue lines are closed to us.
No employment or income promise. Nothing on this site is a guarantee of engagement, work volume or earnings. Training and membership are what we sell; what a member earns depends on what they do with them.
