Accessibility

Our audience includes people with visual impairment, hearing loss and traumatic brain injury. Accessibility is not a formality here. Last updated [CONFIRM: effective date].

What we are working to

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, across this site, the Academy and Workflow.

Built inSemantic headings and landmarks, a skip-to-content link on every page, visible keyboard focus, text that reflows to 320px, and colour contrast checked against AA thresholds.
MotionThe site honours a reduced-motion preference set in your operating system.
Interactive contentThe simulation on the home page is operable by keyboard, and every conclusion it reaches is also stated in text below it — nothing is conveyed by colour alone.
Formal audit[CONFIRM: whether an independent audit has been completed, by whom and when — until it has, do not claim conformance, only that AA is the target]

Known gaps

Stating these is more useful than claiming there are none.

Video captionsProvider introductory videos are uploaded by members. [DECIDE: whether captions are required at upload, and who bears the cost]
Course media[CONFIRM: caption and transcript status for Academy video and audio]
Third-party stepsBackground screening happens on Checkr's platform and payment on our processor's. Those experiences are theirs; we will help you complete either one another way if you hit a barrier.
Documents[CONFIRM: whether downloadable PDFs are tagged for screen readers]

Accommodations and reporting a barrier

Examination accommodations

Requested through CIFPO

Accommodations for the CFPO examination are decided by CIFPO under its own published accommodation process, not by DutyPath. Ask early — a request made close to a sitting may not be decidable in time.

Course accommodations

Ask us directly

Extended time, alternative formats and assistive-technology support for Academy coursework are handled by us. Write to [CONFIRM: accessibility contact email] and tell us what would work, rather than what is wrong — it gets to an answer faster.

Found a barrier? Email [CONFIRM: accessibility contact email] with the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge within [DECIDE: e.g. 2 business days] and to give a fix or a workaround within [DECIDE: e.g. 10 business days]. If the fix will take longer, we will tell you that instead of going quiet.
